BREAKING: Rep. Michael Smith has introduced HB 188 in Delaware’s General Assembly. The bill would create an open primary system where independent/no party voters would be able to vote in the primaries. Delaware is currently one of only 14 states with a closed primary that denies the voting rights of independent voters.
On March 11th, the House Elections and Government Affairs Committee held a hearing on HB 188 and heard testimony from independent voters, the ACLU, the League of Women Voters, Open Primaries, and others in support of HB188. They voted to release the bill to the full House!
